FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Here you can find the most important questions and answers about betterview. If your question cannot be answered here, please feel free to contact us.

Can I go blind from laser eye surgery?

No. In over 25 years, there hasn't been a known case of a patient going blind directly as a result of laser vision correction. Other eye conditions such as infection or retinal detachment may occur after laser eye surgery and can be treated.

Is LASIK surgery painful?

LASIK surgery doesn't cause any pain, neither during the surgery itself nor after it. A foreign body sensation in the first few hours after surgery is completely normal.

Which types of laser eye treatment does betterview offer?

At betterview, we only use the most cutting-edge laser eye technologies. Femto LASIK is the gold standard and the most frequently performed laser eye treatment in the world. Femto LASIK treatment causes no pain, takes only 15 minutes, and most clients can enjoy significant vision improvement the very next day. If Femto LASIK treatment is not possible for you (e.g. due to thin cornea), then TransPRK is an excellent alternative. In case of severe refractive error or presbyopia, implantable contact lens treatment or refractive lens exchange can be performed instead of laser eye treatment. You will find out which procedure is suitable for you in a free, no obligation preliminary examination.

What is the probability of success for my laser vision correction?

Exceptionally high. In about 95% of the treatments, there are no residual vision defects. But if this is the case, they can usually be corrected with a second surgery.

Can the eyes be lasered several times?

Yes, if your cornea is thick enough.

Will laser eye treatment last a lifetime?

Deterioration of vision is very rare and affects people who already had a very high diopter value before laser eye treatment. Please note that presbyopia occurs from about the age of 45. This is a normal age-related phenomenon, which may require a visual aid (e.g. reading or progressive glasses) again over time. Presbyopia can be permanently corrected through a refractive lens exchange to provide clear view into an advanced age.

For which age group is laser eye treatment suitable?

Generally, about 98% of all 18- to 45-year-olds are suitable for laser eye treatment. There may also be a possibility of laser vision correction for people over the age of 45. As a rule, however, starting at this age, a refractive lens exchange, in which the body's own lens is replaced, is preferable. We also offer this. The most suitable treatment method for you will be clarified and discussed in detail in our free, no obligation examinations.
